Forex trading for beginners: a study order from zero
GoalAfter this lesson you can plan a simple study path from first concepts to practice, using free resources and a demo account.
Starting to learn forex can feel confusing. A clear study order helps you build knowledge step by step without skipping the basics.
Begin by learning what forex means. It is the exchange of one currency for another. Understand the words pair, base currency, quote currency, and spread.
Next, learn how a price is written. For example, one currency is valued against another. Study how a small price change is measured in points, often called pips.
Do not rush to charts yet. Spend a few short sessions on these terms until they feel familiar. Write simple notes in your own words.
Build chart reading skills slowly
After the basic words, look at simple price charts. Learn what a candle shows: open, close, high, and low. Study one pattern at a time.
Then learn about time frames. A chart can show minutes, hours, days, or weeks. Each gives a different view of the same market.
Practise reading a chart without any pressure. You are only learning to see what is there. No decision is needed at this stage.
Understand size and risk before any practice
Learn what a lot is and how trade size changes the effect of a price move. Study position size in simple examples on paper.
Then study risk in plain terms. Every trade can lose. Learn how a stop level works and why a losing streak must be planned for.
Keep this order: size first, then stop, then the losing streak. Skipping this step is a common reason beginners feel lost later.
Use free study and a demo account
Look for free educational pages, short courses, and notes you can download. Read one topic, then write a short summary. This helps memory.
When the basics feel clear, open a demo account. It uses practice money, not real money. Use it to test what you studied, not to chase results.
Set a study schedule of a few short sessions each week. Keep a simple journal of what you read and what you practised. Review it at the end of each week.
A common mistake is to jump to live trading before understanding size and risk. Study those topics first on paper and in a demo account.
Words with a dotted underline open their explanation in the glossary.
